Artist's Work
Julia Mattis graduated in May 2019 from The Ohio State University with Distinction and Honors in the Arts and a B.F.A in Photography. Her work has been on display at OSU’s Images of Research + Arts Competition (2019), Urban Arts Space’s BFA Senior Projects Exhibition, Urban Arts Space’s Annual Fergus Scholarship Exhibition (2018), Hopkin Hall's Undergraduate Art Scholarships Exhibition (2018), Gallery 934 (Dec. 2016). and in print publication for Harness Magazine (2019). The artist uses digital photography, 4x5 large format film, studio lighting equipment and Adobe Photoshop to investigate photography’s ability to turn ephemeral movements into lasting moments. This photographic work acts as a medium to highlight relevant social issues so as to inspire thought and humanity.
